Ali Hall
Ali Hall is a Bay Area-based artist specializing in atmospheric landscape paintings with abstract realism. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where she studied painting and graphic design. Her creative journey deepened during a personal recovery period, when painting became a source of healing and reflection. What began as a therapeutic outlet evolved into a dynamic practice that explores the intersection of memory, nature, and emotional restoration.
Ali works primarily in acrylic, blending fluid brushstrokes, seamless color transitions, and intuitive mark-making to capture both the energy and the calm of California’s coastline. Her painterly style is often described as what one might see when squinting and taking in a scene all at once, evoking a softened memory shaped by light, movement, and mood. Each piece carries an immersive quality, inviting viewers to pause and reconnect with their inner landscapes and the natural world.
Her work has been featured in Clean Living Magazine, on KRON4TV’s Live in the Bay, and at national and international art fairs including the Superfine Art Fair in San Francisco and Reno Tahoe International Art Show, as well as with SAB Gallery in Los Angeles. She also leads creative wellness workshops, helping others access creativity as a tool for reflection and emotional release.
Ali seeks to create visually striking and thought-provoking pieces that foster meaningful connections between herself, her audience, and the environment. Looking ahead, she is eager to further explore new themes, experiment, and expand her reach through exhibitions and collaborations.

Interview
What inspires your art practice and keeps you motivated?
I’m endlessly inspired by the ocean and the California coast. The ebb and flow of the tides mirror the rhythm of life, ever-changing, grounding, and full of beauty in motion. Being in nature is my reset; it keeps me connected to calm, mindfulness, and creativity. What keeps me motivated is knowing that my art can bring that same sense of peace and reflection to others, transforming spaces into sanctuaries of calm.
How does your mission as an artist influence the work you create?
My mission is to help people reconnect with themselves, their memories, and the beauty of the natural world. Each painting is an invitation to slow down and breathe. Through abstract realism, I merge emotional storytelling with landscape, blending the seen and the felt. My art is rooted in healing and reflection, and I want people to walk away feeling more centered, hopeful, and inspired.
Can you share a key part of your creative process that helps you stay focused?
I often paint barefoot in my studio late at night with music playing and a candle or palo santo burning. It helps me ground and tune into the moment. I start with the background, layering soft color transitions, and then build toward the light. Sometimes I finish a piece in one flow; other times I let it sit and revisit it with fresh eyes. My intuition always tells me when it’s done, and I know it’s ready when it gives me that “wow” feeling.
What mindset tip do you rely on to overcome challenges in your art career?
When challenges come up, I remind myself that every step forward, even the slow ones, is still progress. I focus on curiosity over perfection and allow myself to evolve. Art has taught me resilience and trust in timing. Staying rooted in my “why” keeps me grounded, creating from the heart rather than for validation.
How do you hope your art impacts the world or your community?
I hope my art helps people find stillness in their day and reconnect with a sense of presence. So many of us move quickly through life, and my paintings are meant to be a pause, a moment to breathe and feel. Whether it’s a collector hanging a coastal piece in their home or someone seeing it at a show, I want them to feel peace, reflection, and renewal.
